What can I do for you?

I’ve always been a stickler for seamanship and tradition. While I go about it with ease and a good attitude, I find it very important to focus on the details and do my best to think through every eventuality. I maintain my clients boats in a way that they’ll never have to worry about the ‘domino effect’ of poor maintenance and a lack of preparedness. I also use the maintenance process as a teaching opportunity, sending regular progress updates with photos and comments for what’s next. Most of all, I make it a priority that when I step off the boat, she’s ready for her next sail.

Setting expectations is my priority, exceeding them is my goal.

Specialties

Yacht Management - You just want to use your boat? I’ll take over the maintenance schedule and detailing, all you need to do is show up and go sailing.

Consulting - Have an idea you’d like to discuss? Looking for the right boat to buy? I like to discuss options so feel free to burden me with your projects. Also, if I’m not the guy to do it, I’ll find someone who is.

Private Instruction - Sailing is my speciality and I also teach docking procedures for both power and sailboats. My skills range from beginner to advanced. I don’t race, but I pay special attention to sail shape and boat performance.

Detailing - The project isn’t finished until it’s clean and shiny. I worked as a deckhand on mega yachts for a time, so I learned from the professionals.

Yacht Finishes - Lite gel-coat and fiberglass repair, varnish, painting, etc., are all finishes I’m confident delivering.

Rigging - from a simple double-braid splice to a full rigging refit, I can make it happen. Want your winches serviced? Easy.

Mechanical - I’m not here for your re-power but I can keep your engine running.

Canvas - I have experience working in marine canvas and grew up around the sewing machine. If I can’t do it myself I can work alongside Pacific Crest Canvas to get you what you want.

Boat Deliveries - Need your boat in a different location and can’t (or don’t want to) do it yourself? Let’s chat.

Acknowledgements & Experience

It would be remiss not to mention where my sailing and repair experience comes from;

-OCSC Sailing. I stared teaching the US Sailing curriculum here in 2015 and quickly became their head Club Manager. After taking a break start Q+M Travels in 2018 I returned as their Fleet Service Manager, managing their 50 boat charter fleet and seven employees.

-Berkeley Marine Center is located on the same grounds as OCSC. They are a full service boatyard with numerous world class craftsmen on their team. I had the opportunity to work in and around the yard from 2015-2020.

-Rogue Rigging is a Bay Area based mobile rigging outfit. Owner Ryan Nelson took me under his wing and taught me many of the nuances in the art of sailboat rigging.

-Pacific Crest Canvas is located in Alameda CA. I learned the in’s and out’s of marine canvas during the summer of 2020. Small canvas project I can do aboard Esprit. Larger projects I send to them.
